Highly popular hair treatment among women is hair oil treatment. However, in order for great results to be noticed, you need to use proper oils. You probably already know that natural oils need to match hair type porosity. How to go about it correctly? Meet all types of natural oils necessary for hair oil treatment.
The saturated and unsaturated hair oils
Natural oils for hair may contain saturated or unsaturated fatty acids; the latter can be divided into monounsaturated and polyunsaturated. The type of fatty acid determines the cosmetic impact on the given hair porosity. Natural oils with saturated fatty acids are made with really small particles that is why they are best for hair with low porosity. On the other hand, oils with unsaturated fatty acids have larger particles so these are best for medium and high porosity hair.
The types of natural oils for hair
There are three types of oils for hair that can be differentiated:
- Saturated hair oils
These are oils for low porosity hair. It is hair type difficult to style, having a problem to absorb water, drying for a long time, while being smooth, glossy and soft in touch. Low porosity hair is believed to be the healthiest hair type with no frizz or flyaways problem. This category holds:- natural oils: coconut, babassu, palm;
- cosmetic kinds of butter: shea, babassu, mango, and cocoa.
- Monounsaturated hair oils
These are natural oils containing monounsaturated fatty acids omega 7 and omega 9, known as semi-absorbing oils recommended for medium porosity hair. It is hair type damaged by heat styling, color treatment, wrong hair care cosmetics. Monounsaturated hair oils are:- hazelnut oil,
- papaya seed oil,
- plum kernel oil,
- moringa oil,
- macadamia oil,
- sweet almond oil,
- avocado oil,
- canola oil,
- sesame oil,
- argan oil,
- tamanu oil,
- ojoba oil.
- Polyunsaturated hair oils
These are natural oils with polyunsaturated fatty acids omega 3 and omega 6. They are called absorption resistant oils due to large particles, which also make them best for high porosity hair, i.e. damaged, dry, frizzy and parched. In this category are as follow:- evening primrose oil,
- pumpkin, grape, raspberry and watermelon seed oil,
- sunflower and corn oil,
- cotton and blackcurrant seed oil,
- wheat germ oil.
