Super dry skin: A few pieces of info

Reportedly almost half of human population suffers from dehydrated skin, and one-quarter struggles with this problem that is caused by temporary influence of external factors. What’s more, it’s definitely more common in people after 60 to deal with dry face skin problem than it’s in younger people. And the majority of those people are women; male skin is generally thicker, so is its fatty tissue.

What causes face skin dehydration? One of the main reasons of this condition is body dehydration. That’s why drinking one liter of mineral water per day makes such a big difference, so as is supplying skin with water externally. What might be surprising for you, even too little sleep negatively influences the state of skin. Shocked? So was I. If you want your skin to function properly and help it stay in a good condition, you must sleep six hours at least.

Causes and symptoms of dry skin

The reasons for your skin being dry are:

  • dehydration,
  • insufficient vitamin, mineral and fatty acid intake,
  • frequent hand washing with soap,
  • uncontrolled lip licking,
  • adverse weather conditions,
  • air conditioning,
  • long and hot bath/shower.

You can recognize your skin being dry when it flakes, itches and feels tight. Wrinkles appear faster on dry skin, even blood vessels can be seen through the skin. Such skin imperfections can appear on the entire body, not only on face.

How to deal with super dry skin?

If your struggle with dry skin doesn’t get you anywhere, then the easiest way would be to follow the below pieces of advice:

  1.  Use moisturizing hand soap.
  2. Avoid taking hot showers.
  3. Bath shouldn’t take you longer than 10 minutes.
  4. Avoid dry body brushing.
  5. Dry yourself off using a soft towel.
  6. Use moisturizing face care products.
  7. Invest in humidifier.
  8. Drink still water.
