Hi, hello!
As you’ve probably noticed, there are various natural and sometimes even bizarre ingredients added into beauty products. One of them is a substance that all of us are familiar with, a very healthy substance originated from a really nice fellow animal. I’m talking about milk. How to use it, what properties it has and what benefits it offers to your skin?
What does milk contain?
I bet you associate milk with a hot drink that most kids love. Adults know it better as a morning coffee constituent or something that you need to prepare a glass of hot cocoa. It turns out that milk is a source of many healthful substances. For example, it has vitamin A, B and E, calcium, potassium and phosphorus. Moreover, milk is also rich in proteins and lactic acid that is better known as chemical peel.
Application of milk in cosmetics
Do you know that milk proteins stimulate collagen and elastin production that are responsible for reducing wrinkles and making face skin more supple? Also, they increase the level of hyaluronic acid that is found crucial in fighting back stretch marks. What’s more, milk proteins are present in various cosmetics designed for almost all skin types to deal with numerous skin conditions. Reportedly, milk proteins are helpful in protecting hair ends that are easy to split. Additionally, beauty industry uses lactic acid to regenerate lipid coat of skin and simultaneously removes dead epidermal cells.
I think I also need to add that milk’s pH is similar to human skin’s pH. This means that milk causes neither irritations nor allergic reactions. Milk fat increases skin absorption rate therefore it’s commonly used as a carrier of nourishing substances that many beauty products are made from.
Other applications of milk:
- has an anti-oxidative effect – milk removes free radicals that contribute to wrinkle appearance;
- highlights discolorations – milk influences melanocytes and deals with improper exfoliation of epidermis;
- helps curing common acne – milk reduces skin’s pH and prevents multiplication of bacteria responsible for causing acne;
- removes impurities that clog skin pores;
- soothes inflammations and regulates work of sebaceous glands.
Application of milk in cosmetics: Summary
As you can see, milk is more than just a delicious and healthy drink. It also makes a valuable ingredient to condition hair and skin. Moreover, milk is commonly used in beauty parlour as well as at homes, especially to crate D.I.Y. beauty products. It’s safe and gentle therefore you can introduce milk into your beauty routine even if your skin is sensitive.
